A review of the status of CEN standards currently under preparation.

The Irish Institute of Welding & Engineering Inspection here publishes a review of the status of those CEN standards (Welding & NDT) that are currently under preparation. Unfortunately, it is only possible at this stage for the review to include reference to those standards that the IIWEI and/or its members have an input to. In the main, these standards are produced by the CEN - TC 138, generic standards such as terminology, equipment and general principles of NDT methods and CEN - TC 121 Welds (Sub Committee 5B) application standards for NDT of Welds. However, it is expected that the generic standards produced by CEN-TC 138 will form the foundation for many of the new product/application standards that will eventually be published(Pressure Vessels, Aerospace, Castings etc) so in the context they will be extremely important. We are hopeful that, in time, the table can be extended to include reference to these product/application standards.
